Now I’ve recorded “I could be dead” on my new computer that Shadey kindly built for me. I havn’t had much of a response about this song to be honest, people close to me say its the best I’ve written yet but I havn’t heard much since.
So check it out at www.myspace.com/mykehawkeye, and let me know what you think of I Could Be Dead.
Would really appreciate any nice comments at all
I’m going on holiday for two weeks with my girlfriend to Cornwall. We have a caravan so I won’t be around for the next two weeks!
I’m attempting to write a song every day i’m there which should mean I’ll have around 10 songs by the end (we’re there for 12 days and 2 are travelling!) Hopefully will all go to plan!
…Beautiful stars in the sky, shine so bright as we say goodbye…
I’m in the process of finishing a new song entitled “Beautiful”. It’s a song that’s a story about two people. A beautiful girl who is on the verge of suicide and a lonely guy who has no belief. The story is about their lives and about the moment they set eyes upon each other. Not all stories have happy endings…
…You are beautiful, you’re so beautiful…
I wrote this song in one night on a first take, quick edit recording session. I just recorded a few tracks, played them over and edited it together. Simple, just a quick one to make me happy!
…Do you believe in magic now?…
We all need a wake up call from time to time and some of us realise it and some of us don’t. Those of us who do tend to look for something to change our lives, whether than be someone, something, or somewhere!
Promised Land is a song ive written about that. One day I’ll go to my promised land. I want to wish everyone who tries good luck!
…Take me with you, on this journey, bring back the old me, when I was happy…
I’ve gone back to myspace and set everything up again!
The address is www.myspace.com/mykehawkeye .
I’ve never posted the address before but after the help my lovely girlfriend gave me on building the site up, I feel its finally a professional, yet artistic way to present the work. Let me know what you think of the songs!
…This is all for you, darlin’…
New song, touchy subject. When You’re Through is a new song that I am proud of! It took me about two days to write and it is about a close friend of mine. The song is very personal to me and makes me feel sad when I sing it, but in a good way.
…So you think the world is yours, but its not, no its not. And you use the old excuse, this is life, this is life…
I have a good recording of the song now and feel really good about it! I feel confident singing it and overall it just works. I feel really relieved! It’s just a shame what the song is written about…
…Because I care about you…
…And I’ll be there…
…When you’re through…
Ok, been a long while! Have LOADS to update about so am going to do about 5 blogs tonight about seperate things! I’m trying to post them in chronological order so the feeling stays the same!
Everything is going so well!
…Happiness…
…More or Less…
…Is just a change in me…
How many times have we been here? How many times has the same thing happened with the same reaction? Can we leave it all behind? Can we just give up? I think I’m going to have to. The end of the road. Over and out!
Even heroes have heroes. Do they feel how I do about mine. That I will never be as good as them, no matter how hard I try. I’m on a mission, I have some serious mountains to climb. And it ain’t gonna be easy. But I will try. And that fact should actually make the whole ordeal easier. At-least I know I tried… wherever I end up. It will be my grace and every moment have the echos of blood, sweat and tears. Sleepless nights and concave mornings. Dry lips and sweaty feet, bruised knuckles and ink on skin.
The only question I have left it… afterwards will I be free and able to sleep? or is this task one of the labours placed on me?
“Do you have a hero”
“No, but it would be kinda handy if I did, do you?”
“Yeah and I wish I didn’t”
“Why?”
“Because I will always be in his shadow”
Oh boy, realisation is a hard thing to stomach, even at the best of times. I’m really not able to handle the extent of this one, but surprisingly I’m so happy its there, because at the same time its set me free and I have a plan now. A plan to ride the wave all the way out. My little girl could do with her friend back, and I could do with some sleep. I hope to god this works. It feels good, and I think it will, but you know what they say…
…The first bitter taste of that terrible illusion… Hope…
As you maybe able to tell I am something of a perfectionist when it comes to music. Something that I have been feeling lately is that a lot of the top British music, in the top 40 etc, seems to have such low production values, if you know what I mean. It seems to occur more in the indie music than anything else. Before anyone suddenly thinks this is because I don’t like indie music that’s not true. I am a huge Britpop fan, and enjoy a lot of the American Indie music such as “Five for Fighting”. I just feel there is a Grand Canyon size gap between for example Oasis and Blur in comparison to bands like the Arctic Monkeys and The Kooks. I don’t know if they are trying to make it sound like it was recorded in a garage and in a rush but I feel it ruins potentially good songs. I’m not saying that all songs need orchestral backing but just they need to be finished. Songs like The Masterplan, Bittersweet Symphony and The Universal are all examples of the orchestral style finish. And I feel it is unfair to compare these because they are so different, but one that I think CAN be used as an example is On Your Own by Blur. That song is meant to sound rough as iron nails but it still has a quality that some of the Arctic Monkeys music lacks.
…Take off your shoes, take off yourself, take off your rented mental health, take off your raincoat , settle down; Take off your nightmare and your frown. There is a place for you to go, to see another ringer in a rock show. Take my pretense for a time, cause I wanted to say it to you…
The reason that I feel upset about this sort of thing is because this is what I call “Next Big Thing” syndrome. It seems that the public today overlook the best things in search for the next big thing. The next fad, the next years famous thing. It annoys me because some of the most talented artists (and don’t ever think I consider myself in that category) are not getting the recognition they deserve. The “Next Big Thing” syndrome isn’t just in music, you can see it in films, TV, games, even football teams (and I consider it responsible for the England teams downfall… Peter Crouch? When you have Rooney, Owen, Smith, and Defoe?). Anyway, that’s not the point for today. Just I feel that next time you go to buy an album, or download legally a song (and this obviously can’t apply to illegal downloads) think “I’m paying £10+ for this album, did the artist work hard enough to deserve the money… Has the music been thought out and made to sound the best it possibly can. Or has it just been a first take roll out because they know you’ll buy it anyway?” I just feel sorry for the artists who spend 10 years writing an album losing out to the crazy frog and garage bands that can only play power chords and couldn’t tell you how they’d managed to write their song. (I know I’m making a wild assumption that probably only applies to 1 out of 100 of them, but I’m trying to make a point by using the extreme cases).
…Where nothing is left, everything is gained…
And do you know what…
…Sometimes Good’s better than Bad and sometimes you’re better than me…
